A honeycomb is honey fresh from the hive in its perfectly natural form. The hexagonal wax cells are built by honeybees in their hive to contain their stores of honey and pollen. This honeycomb contains, fresh, Michigan Start Thistle Honeycomb from Pontus' favorite midwestern beekeeper.
Honey’s taste and color change depending on what types of flowers the honeybees have pollinated. This Star Thistle Honeycomb has a unique floral flavor with notes of anise, marshmallow, and even cinnamon.
Pontus, our beekeeper, has many beekeeping friends and has always wanted to find a way to bring their amazing regional honey to his customers. By sourcing honey from the best beekeepers he knows, Pontus is helping to keep the craft of beekeeping alive.
Honeycomb is a rare novelty treat and is great eaten by the spoonful. It also makes a stunning accompaniment to cheese plates or spread on fresh, warm, bread. When you eat honeycomb, simply chew the wax. It can be swallowed.
Honeycomb should be eaten immediately, if possible. Otherwise, it should be stored at room temperature. This honeycomb ships vacuum-sealed in plastic to avoid leaks. Some shifting of the honeycomb may occur. Let the box stand upright on a flat surface for 10-15 minutes before serving.
Each box is different so the weight will vary but it will be between 7 oz. and 10 oz.
